It's A Good Day to Serve the Lord

I work this morning about 5:45 am to join my church's Intercessory Prayer Call. During the call, God began to speak to me about Troubled Waters. I didn't understand immediately, then He began to speak on the issues facing us today - finances, death, grief, war, issues in relationships. But, through all of that, He kept saying troubled waters.

John 5: 1-11 speaks on the healing waters and how the angel went down to stir up the waters but God said, no, that's not it. So I kept studying and He led me to Psalms 46:3-11: "Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah." (KJV) and paired it with Jeremiah 29:11: "11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." (KJV).

We get caught up in the things of this world but God does not. As the Creator of all, He already knows when trouble is coming. He is the Balm in Gilead and can be the Balm in your house if you let Him be. Troubled waters will come. There is no if but there is a when. And when they come, trust and believe and know that God is God. He has a plan for the troubled waters and a way of escape for you. I mean, did He not part the Red Sea??? If He can part an entire sea (twice) and have a way of escape then, don't we know that He can handle any and everything that comes our way!!! God is our refuge in the good times and the bad times. He is the light that illuminates our path. He is the rock upon which our foundation should be created. He is everything and all things. Yes, there are times when we don't understand His move but even in those times, our trust of Him should be immense. Big Faith calls for Big Trust. Trust Him for He'll never steer you wrong.

Joshua 24:15 (NIV) tells us "15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” As for me and my house....has become a slogan to some. But, it should be a way of life for all Christians. Serving God is done with our whole heart, whole body, and whole soul. Not whole as in perfection but whole as in entirety. None of us are perfect. But we can take or perfectly imperfect selves to God and allow Him to clean us up. Our work is to be open and honest. His work is to do the cleaning. Then we must maintain His cleaning even in troubled waters.

See, it's a good day to serve the Lord not because it's a perfect day but because it's the day that He has made. It's another day that I get to spend on this earth exalting His name. It's a good day, because it's His day.

Be A Blessing and Not Just Blessed
