NAKYA'S STORY

There is a song that has lyrics that say "...you don't know my story, you don't know the things that I've been through...."  Well, here is part of my story.

I was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA.  I have 2 loving parents.  My father has transitioned onto eternal life.  My mother is still here and I am thankful everyday for the time that I have with her.  Bro and Val as they are called by family and friends raised me to love myself and others.  Somewhere along the way I forgot the love myself part.

It has taken me years to get back to what was freely given to me growing up - love - internal love.  Loving yourself is the best thing that you can do for yourself.  It frees you from guilt and shame.  It allows you to be whom you were called to be.  Whom God described in Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV) "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee".

I'm no where near perfect.  I strive daily to do God's will and be worthy of being called His - child, vessel, chosen, anointed, appointed.  I hold different titles within the different aspects of my life.  But the one that is nearest to my heart - God's Servant.

You won't know my entire story.  There are parts that are meant just for me and God.  There are parts that I share with others as they have shared their stories with me.  There are parts that have formed me into who I am today but are part of my former life and have been buried with the old man.  My story is 40+ years old.  It includes being a single mother to a wonderful son, a daughter to loving parents, a sister to protective brothers and an older sister, a niece, an aunt, a cousin, and a friend.  My story is vast.  But along this journey, God will reveal parts of it according to His plan.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy the ride as we go along!!
