I Got A Testimony

A couple of weeks ago, I watched “Confirmation”. It is the story of Anita Hill’s testimony on Capitol Hill during the Clarence Thomas hearings. (Disclaimer: I based these thoughts upon on the movie deception and not per any actual research.) I learned some things that I did not know. Firstly, I learned that she didn’t go to the panel. The panel came to her. Here they were investigating this man and during this process, they found the potentially of an issue. This movie showed a panel of men that questioned this woman harshly. They attacked her words, character, and person. Toward the end of the movie, there was a screen where she just got tired and said enough. She tells her supporters she was done and would not testify again before the Senate Judiciary Committee. She packs it up and goes home, defeated. Here is where God stepped in. Ms. Thomas goes to her office and there she finds her joy. Letters on letters on letters of women who said thank you for speaking up and out because they didn’t feel that they had a voice regarding sexual harassment. As the movie closes out there are clips depicting the reset of minds toward the treatment of sexual advances in the workplace. The matter between Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas was never fully resolved. It began and remains a he say/she say argument with each party claiming that they were telling the truth. The truth lies between them and God. Listen, people of God, you may feel tired, defeated and like you are not making a difference. But you are!!! You are!!! Someone sees what you are doing. Has heard what you’ve done. They are inspired by your actions and words. Don’t ever think that you are not enough or that you don’t matter. You make a difference.

I just brought a t-shirt that reads “I Am Somebody, I Am Me”. Being me is enough. I was wonderfully created by God to be just who I am. I remember from some years ago, there was a woman’s conference with the theme of Girl, Be You. That theme still resonant today. Be You!!! You never know when your testimony will impact someone and make a difference in their life. (Rev. 12:11). You are the living proof that God is, was and forever will be. You are the proof of a living miracle. You are the living proof that God has established a covenant with man. You are the living proof of salvation. Each breathe and step you take are the ideal accounts of what living for God is.

Just being you, living your dream and walking His path is a testimony. Don’t be afraid to tell it. Whether they believe you or not is not your issue. Speaking truth is all you need. Be not afraid of man. “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1) “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Speak your truth according to God’s will!!! Be not afraid of anyone or anything. Your testimony breathes life in the lifeless. Where are those dry bones of Ezekiel? Speak as if they are still living. Call them into account for the living!!!

I’ve got a testimony…...!!!!

Be A Blessing and NOT Just Blessed
