What have you planted?

May 24, 2019

At 5:15 am this morning, I began to read the Word of God.  Galations 6:7 (NLT) reads:  "Don't be misled - you cannot mock the justice of God.  You will always harvest what you plant."

Physically, my son wants to begin to plant his own garden.  As we live in an apartment, I told him he could use the balcony and plant some items but not everything he wanted to plant.  He was actually ok with this.  Just being able to plant some of his own vegetables and fruits have excited him.

It got me to thinking about what I've been planting lately - both physically and spiritually.  Physically, I've been working out and trying to eat healthier.  I finally realized that this is the only body I will have on this earth and its my responsibility to take care of God's vessel not just on the spiritual level, but on the physical one too.  This has been a battle for me as I love sweets, breads, and all that bad for you stuff.  But, the rewards are starting to show.  I actually have energy!!!  I don't feel so heavy and like I can't move, which is a blessing in itself working in Construction (I'm an admin on a construction site).

Spiritually, I've known for over 10 years now to take care of my spirit.  But, there are days where the overwhelming stress of it all makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.  Its during those times, that I feel this burst of love that tells me everything will be okay.  This inner voice that lets me know that He's here and cry but then get up and put my big girl pants on.  See the inner man - my inner man - won't allow me to wallow in despair.  It makes me move out of a place of I can't to a place where I will.  Its those seeds popping up from what has been planted years before.  I am so grateful for the planting season.  That season that taught me how to pray even when I didn't want to.  That season that taught me about the unconditional love of the Lord, my God.  The season that taught me to push when I didn't want to.

As we go into the Memorial Day holiday and I prepare to become the mother of a 21 year old (someone aught to pray :)), I sit in a place of thankfulness for this season, for the planting, for the harvest that is coming.

What have you planted?  What will you harvest?
