I Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT) "Never stop praying."
The King James version reads "Pray without ceasing". Both have the same meaning. DON'T stop communicating with God. That's what prayer is...communication with the Heavenly Father. Let's think about this for a minute. I'm in trouble and need help. Who can give better advice than the Creator? Who would know a better method of escape? Who could direct us down the right path?
Our family and friends will mean well but what if their good advice isn't the right advice? Understand this. Over the years, I've received a lot of good advice but it hasn't always been the right advice. I've been in relationships where I couldn't understand why the guy acted the way he did. So, as any girl would do, I turned to my friends and received a myriad of advice. Some good, some bad. I often would follow some of this advice. Here's the thing though. While good advice on this earthly realm, it wasn't always the best advice in the heavenly realm.
Before you go and consult those in your circle, then understand this: I Thessalonians 5:12 ".....know those who labor among you....". Know if those that are giving you advice have consulted God before they open their mouth and tell you anything. Godly advice is the best advice. Truly, it is the only advice that you need or should desire.
Not all hear the Words of God. Not because God isn't talking but because we don't all know His voice. Take time and stay in prayer so that when He speaks (and He will speak), you will know His voice above all others. His sheep know His voice (John 10:27 KJV). Are you His??? Do you know His voice? Are you listening? Know that if you have never heard His voice, it will take time and relationship for you to recognize it. One of my co-workers was looking for me one day. I was in an office talking and he said, "There's that voice." I looked at him when he came in and asked how he knew it was me. His reply - "I would know that voice anywhere." This is the same principle with God. In order to know His voice, you have to spend time communicating with Him.
Today's challenge - add 5 minutes more a week to your prayer time. If you don't have a prayer time, set a time. I promise your life will be better for it.
A Simple Prayer - "Lord, I thank You for all that You are in my life. Thank You God for being my Lifeline. Thank You for loving me, creating me, providing for me, protecting me, for Your continual Grace and Mercy. Thank you for being my Father and tour guide on this journey called life. You are the Great I Am and the best source of all things in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Be Blessed and Not Just A Blessing
