April 30th, 6:30 pm: I received a text from my son that started..”I’m good.” What followed was that there was an active shooter on his campus, UNC Charlotte. My God. As a parent, my heart stopped and my breath caught in the back of my throat. As a Christian, I began to pray and called on the church to pray. Faith told me he would be okay. I sat in front of the television calling on the name of Jesus because that is all the prayer that would come out of my mouth. I thank God that the Spirit intercedes - Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Why did this young man, a student, shoot up this campus? No answers were revealed the night of the shooting. Here’s what I know. My son came home but 2 people died and 3 were critically wounded with another’s wound not as serious but serious enough that he had to have surgery. I pray for the families of those that were killed and injured. I thank God for the police officers that rushed into harms way within minutes of hearing what had happened. If you hear nothing else, hear this...love heals all wounds. If you haven’t spoken to someone over something stupid, mend the wound. This world isn’t getting better. People are taking justice, revenge, hatred, rebellion, and hurt in their own hands. To some, life isn’t as important as it is to others. Love those God has assigned you to love and don’t allow silly disagreements to get in the way. Be A Blessing and Not Just Blessed - - Nakya
