Broken by God

I was sitting at my desk, feeling melancholy. Not sure why. Then God reminded me of who He is. He sent His Word via song. As I do when a mood hits me, I play gospel music or read the Word. Today I chose music and the song that broke it - Gracefully Broken by Tasha Cobbs Leonard.

Here's this song, these words set to music that began to stir up the Spirit of the Living God inside of me. The lyrics are simple: "Here I am God, Arms wide open, Pouring out my life, Gracefully Broken. All to Jesus now. I'm holding nothing back. Holding nothing back. I surrender. I surrender. All that I am. Have Your way. Use me Lord. I surrender. To Your will and Your way. Use my life to Your glory. I surrender. Your power at work in me. I'm broken gracefully. I'm strong when I am weak. I will be FREE!!!"

Did you hear it? Did you hear the sound from Heaven? You see when we pay attention, the move of God is preceded by a sound. With this song, the sound comes in the tune of freedom. I am free even when all hell is breaking loose. I am strong even when my emotions have been evoked and I feel bogged down in daily trials and tribulations. When I surrender, I am free. Did you see it yet??

I am broken gracefully when I can surrender all to God and allow Him to have His way. It won't always feel good. It won't always be a shouting, dancing moment. It won't always be amid a team of friends, co-workers, family. Sometimes my brokenness comes when I am all alone with God. When I take my time and expect a sound from Heaven that signals the beginning of the breaking and my victory. Yes, VICTORY!!!

The breaking isn't to hurt me - Romans 8:28 (KJV) "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose". Pay attention to the words used: "All things", "to them that love God", "to them who are called", "according to His purpose". It can't work for my good when I'm doing my purpose and not His. When I'm on my own mission, nothing will work for my good. And before that, I must be called. I can't just go out and preach to the nations if I'm called to clean the toilets. My job is cleaning, not preaching. I've got to do my job not someone else's. Oh, but the big one - to them that love God. Come on now, this should be an easy decipher. It’s not written in code language. Love God - Matthew 22:37-38 (NKJV) "37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment." Shouldn't it be easy to love the one that gives you breath daily?! Then you can rest on the all things. The trial, that issue, that problem, getting fired, breaking up with the one I thought loved me, financial stress, co-workers not supportive, family squabbles - ALL Things are working for my good. Listen, we may not like to distance ourselves from loved ones, but if they aren't on the path that God has us on, then they will only hinder the journey. Maybe, just maybe, the squabble isn't just a squabble but a way for God to show you that you must move on without them.

Let Him break you. Stop stressing the process. Let God be God.

Be A Blessing and not Just Blessed
