This is the day that the Lord has made....

This is the day that the Lord have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Those words are repeated by Christians everywhere. They are based on scripture – Psalm 118:24 - and sung in songs. But, are we really rejoicing in the day. Today, here in Charlotte, NC, it is raining buckets. It looks awful. However, it is the day that the Lord has made. It is a day to rejoice. Yes, it may take longer to get around the city. Yes, your shoes, clothes, hair may get wet. But, would God make it rain if the earth didn’t need it? Likewise, He wouldn’t send us troubles if we didn’t need them. Our troubles make us stronger. Fortification.

I have this picture on my wall of this woman praying and the word written on the picture is “Fortify”. Dictionary.com defines fortify as “strengthen (a place) with defensive works so as to protect it against attack; strengthen or invigorate (someone) mentally or physically”. God is a Father. He protects us. The best way for us to prepare for the ultimate attack is to be fortified, strengthened.

If God is truly your God, your Lord, your Master, your Ruler. Let Him fortify you. Let Him strength and shape you as only He knows how. 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. (Psalm 32:8-9)
