I'm just a nobody...

October 7, 2019

Sunday morning, I was preparing for church when out of nowhere I heard an old song in my spirit.  The lyrics go like this: "I'm just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody....".  I remember hearing this song growing up.  My grandmother Ida Mae, loved the group that sang it.  I could hear the lyrics as if I was standing in her house as she hummed along.  I remember asking myself why would you call yourself nobody.  At the age where my parents were impressing upon me to value myself and know my worth, this song seemed so contradictory.

What I've learned since is that I am nobody with a mission to tell everybody about THE somebody that can save anybody.  Jesus Christ, my savior, my redeemer, my breathe of life.  HE is the only one that can save anybody.

The term of nobody doesn't mean that I don't have worth as God values all His children.  But it symbolizes my humility onto the throne. Proverbs 11:2 says "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."  My Lord, I would much rather have wisdom than disgrace.  I would much rather bask in HIS love and the honor of being obedient to Him than live on my own understanding trying to make it through life being somebody.

When I bow before the King, I know that what He has for me is better than anything that I can imagine.  How do I know this??  Ephesians 3:20:  "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think...".  So, let's be real.  We all want things.  Be it materials things, health, wealth, peace of mind, etc.  We want and desire for things.  It is natural.  However, the process of obtaining those things is where we have to be careful as men and women of God.  Humbling unto the throne means I know that God knows what is best for me.  I may want the $1 million dollar home but if I have a 5 figure salary, I'd be hurting myself.  So God will have the creditors deny us.  God will not allow things to come our way.  Its okay.  He knows what is best for us.  Humility - real humility - will exalt me beyond my wildest dreams.  I may be asking for a $1 million home when he wants to give me a $5 million dollar home.  Sometimes, most times, all times, our trust should be in the ONE that created the heavens and the earth.  If he can speak and there is light, why can't He do all???
