I was sitting at my desk and thinking on the word Wisdom. It is defined as (1) The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. (2) The soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment. This word is powerful.
In Proverbs 3: 3-18, the Word says - "13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed."
So, those that have wisdom gain understanding of the world, their world, their life. Wisdom is more valuable than silver and gold. She is special in that in comparison to rubies, her value is higher. Wisdom provides a long life, riches, and honor. Wisdom doesn't hurt you but brings peace, long life, and blessings.
Lord, God, what are we valuing these days. The things that we need aren't material in nature. They are the blessings of heaven - long life, understanding, peace. Wisdom provides all of this. If you want the blessings of heaven, if you want harmony in your home, in your life, in each breath that you take, get some wisdom. How?? How do you become wise? The answer is in the Word - Proverbs 19:8 "To acquire wisdom is to love yourself..." Get it. You want to become wise, love yourself.
However, don't love yourself to the point that you become a lover of yourself and don't listen to the Heavenly Father. See, in having wisdom, you know His voice, You know to listen to His command then go out and perform it. The other day, I was in the store and God gave me a simple direction. I didn't follow and ended up turning in circles. I had to stop and repent. I listened to Nakya instead of listening to Him. After repenting, I kept going. In that same store, I came to a crossroads again and heard God tell me what to do. Well, I had just made the mistake of not listening a few minutes ago, so I listened the second time. My wisdom grew. My understanding grew. My knowledge grew. And, in the end, my praise was bigger. I exalted His name in the store because He is God. He was out to save me time from running around the store chasing my own tail (you know, how dogs do), just going around in a circle.
The Father doesn't tell us things, just to say them. He wants us to grow in the knowledge of Him and His ways. But, in order to do this, we must 1. spend time in the stillness so we can hear His voice and 2. follow His commands. This grows your wisdom. This expands your territory. You can prayer the Prayer of Jabez 1( Chronicles 4:10) but why would God move if you can't listen and follow. AND stop thinking that the expansion of your territory is coming in the form of material things. What if God wanted to expand your understanding, knowledge, compassion, and love? What if His expansion doesn't meet your idea of expansion? Are you going to stop praying? I hope not because in the end, He's working on your behalf for what you really need and not what you want.
Get wisdom so you have knowledge and understanding. Use Solomon as your example: 1 Kings 3:1-15.
Be A Blessing and not Just Blessed
