Jesus' Commandments

Looking at one of my favorite robes this morning, I paid really close attention to it and the animals on it. It brought to mind a portion of the theory of Darwinism - Survival of the Fittest. This portion of the theory can be translated to mean that only the strongest survive. That in order to survive in this world, you have to be the top dog. That this world is a dog eat dog world.

This mindset has wrecked human kind. It leads way into a human society that justifies slavery, human trafficking, murder, robberies, lying politicians and CEOs, and so much more. Charles Darwin's studies were meant to be a study of evolution that explained how organisms came to be. (Note: I in no endorse that man is a by-product of apes. I believe the Word as written in Genesis that God created man.) However, mankind took the studies and used them to justify immoral behavior. All the while calling ourselves Christians. That justification is opposite of the Word. 37 Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV). You cannot fulfill His commandments and Darwinism. "....Choose ye this day..." (Joshua 24:15). There has to be a unanimous decision between your heart, mind, body, and soul as to whom you will serve. Do you serve God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, which comes to provide Comfort or do you serve yourself? Here's another problem with the theory of Survival of the Fittest. There is no rest. If your are on top then you will have to keep fighting to stay on top. "28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28 NIV). How does your mind rest when you have to worry whom is coming to dethrone you? How does your spirit rest when you're hurt or if you've cheated others? Where can you find peace when your soul is heavy? Does your body sleep at all when its tensed, full of weary and in fight mode? This is not what God wants. He wants you to have peace, joy, love, rest. He wants you to live a marvelous life. He wants you, just you, all of you. He cares not about the size of your house, the number of your cars, your job title, or the number of zeros in your bank account. Those things are status symbols according to Survival of the Fittest. I once stood in an elevator beside a CEO whom wore jeans to work almost everyday. His brain not his clothes was what was utilized. His dress code for his office was relaxed. He wanted his workers to be happy. He understood that happiness breeds productivity. Why can't churches, Christians, understand this too? Why must we outdress, out sing, out do each other continuously? That isn't the embodiment of Matthew 22:39 - Loving my neighbor as myself. Giving accolades one to another, providing for a stranger that is destitute, loving someone that hates me, forgiving those that hurt me. These are the things we do when we uphold the commandments Jesus gave us in Matthew. Be a blessing and not just blessed!
